I love to travel and eat good healthy food that represents the country I am visiting! Italy is not only a feast for one’s eyes but for one’s stomach. I adore visiting small family run dinning venues that capture the essence of the culture.
On my recent short trip to Rome I was fortunate to dine at Pietro Valentini, a small family owned restaurant on a cobbled side street near Pizza Navona. This is not a trendy restaurant with chic décor but a small family run eatery with fantastic food. It is cozy, quaint and known or its truffle dishes.
The owner greets you and makes you feel welcome right way with just a few tables, surrounded by people that love good, simple food. We had an arugula salad with shaved parmesan and grilled artichokes to start. Followed by homemade pasta with exotic mushrooms and a homemade ravioli that made me cry with happiness. All this eating topped off with a local red.
For dessert, I had a dark chocolate soufflé with pistachio that made me relish every moment. Followed by a cappuccino that was smooth and easy. I highly recommend Pietro Valentini to anyone that wants a great home cooked meal with a warm and comfortable ambience!
