I had a great dinner at HUMMINGBIRD in Alexandria with Donna Lewis, proprietor of Yoga Sport and Donna Lewis Clothier in old town Alexandria.
What I loved about my dinner besides catching up with Donna Lewis, my girlfriend from 6th grade, was her choice of HUMMINGBIRD for our dining venue. Located on the water in Old Town Alexandria, HUMMINGBIRD overlooks the Potomac River in a loft like space with large windows and a clean design aesthetic. Terrace dinning is available overlooking the water as well when weather permits.
The décor and ambience are welcoming with the menu consisting of great seafood choices. Donna and I had the grilled whole snapper and branzino that came with 4 sauces housed in glass bottles. The whole fish was tender, juicy and the sauces added a bit of a zing. My favorite was the basil garlic which gave the fresh taste of the Mediterranean to the dish.
HUMMINGBIRD is the brainchild of chef Chathal Armstrong that has other popular restaurants in Alexandria. I adore supporting local businesses, chef’s and having a place where community can gather to enjoy the beautiful river view, enjoy a meal, libation and share conversation.
