Chef Michael Lewis has created a gem with KYU located in the Wynwood section of Miami. Chef Lewis is inspired by his global travels and the Japanese barbecue grilling process of Yakiku which makes KYU a very special destination for wood fired and Asian inspired cuisine. Having worked with some of the biggest chefs globally Chef Lewis opened KYU.
The ambience and energy are fantastic being located right in the Wynwood art district. The food is fresh, amazing and KYU is committed to green practices and locally sourced ingredients. Every dish we tried was on point and delectable, with the flavors just pushing all our sensory buttons.
We started with the roasted cauliflower with herb vinaigrette and the avocado salad with lemon and ginger. For our main courses we wanted to try the wood fired grill, so we had the Florida red snapper with brown butter and white miso, the grilled jumbo tiger prawn with black bean vinaigrette and Korean mint and the whole roasted lobster with grilled citrus butter and shishito peppers.
For dessert we had the dark chocolate smores cake with bourbon ice cream and roasted marshmallows and the coconut cake. Both are heavenly!
The food is so fresh, beautifully presented and the Asian flavors elevate the dishes to another level.
Miami has so many dining choices and I love to explore al the new options I am passionate about patronizing local business and local chefs, so it is inspiring to dine at KYU and be mesmerized by Chef Lewis’s artistry!
