Traveling expands my mind and horizons by filtering all that I learn about different cultures. On a recent trip with Abercrombie and Kent with my industry colleagues I was able to explore Jordan and see all the magical sights.
I adore purchasing items that are made locally and that help local communities, especially woman in regions like the Middle East. Skills they learn that allows them to have an income and be more independent in supporting their families.
While we were exploring Petra in Jordan our guide Samir took us to meet a Bedouin family that had a wonderful story. Marguerite had come to Petra in the late 70’s, fell in love with a Bedouin man and moved to Petra to live in a cave. Her son started PETRA Pieces to sell locally handmade silver pieces that are crafted by local woman in Petra.
Of course, I had to purchase a few rings that are “unique contemporary designs inspired by the ancient Nabataean city”.
The sterling rings take inspiration from the structures in Petra and through modern and wearable, they are unique that you purchase them at a stand inside Petra. Retail therapy with a large dose of culture and history!
