The Bar American at the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo is an iconic institution. Situated in a stunning historic building with a cozy interior and back room with floor to ceiling windows facing the sea. In warmer weather there is a new outdoor terrace facing the casino and sea. There is great live music every night whether it be jazz, blues or great French vocals. The Hotel De Paris has gone through an extensive renovation and has kept the charm but just added more modern amenities & design elements for a perfect fusion of past & present.

For my birthday my Uncle Parviz and I had a late lunch which was sublime. It had been three years since I saw him so it was wonderful to catch up. We started with a deconstructed Caesar salad. Then I had their signature chicken club sandwich with delicious house made French fries. My Uncle had the veal Milanese with vegetables. The fresh baked bread with butter that arrived with our salad was decadent but alright when celebrating one’s birthday.

I gazed at the sea and truly relaxed for the first time in three years. The service is impeccable and when I told our amazing server that it was my Birthday week she poured us a complimentary glass of louis roederer champagne. We finished our meal with coffee lattes and house made macaroons. It was truly the best meal with a warm ambience and great views. Whether you are stopping by the American Bar for a coffee/tea, a drink while listening to live music or to eat a light fare while gazing at the sea you can’t go wrong. It is a special experience one touched touched my heart and brightened my soul..
