Cal Pep is a fascinating tapas and fresh seafood centric restaurant in Barcelona. Located in a quaint historic area close to the Picasso Museum.
When you enter this small restaurant, you see a long bar and people waiting for a table. We had made a reservation for the tiny dining room in the back that only seats twenty-six guests. You go past the long bar to the back dining room which is just adorable.
Once seated the special journey begins. You order your drinks but there is no menu, and the waiter just brings you what they desire based on your guidelines. We had people with food allergies, so we had to mention our tables dietary limitations.
It was a special sharing experience where dish after dish arrives. We had aged cheese, tuna tartare, traditional tomato toast with anchovies, beef fillet, seabream, and sautéed spinach with chickpeas.
The waiters are so much fun and since the dining room has only twenty-six seats you are close to the next table, and all dine together. We topped off our meal with a delicious chocolate cake and mille-feuille. Cal Pep was a special meal for me not only did I enjoy the fresh food and the ambiance but the hospitality of the waiters touched my heart!
