It is exciting when a city like Washington DC starts revitalizing its waterfront for dining, living, retail and entertainment. It brings new life to an area that was once vacant and allows locals and visitors to enjoy the beautiful DC waterfront.
The District Wharf that just opened it first phase is just that. A new water front development that took a tired area and revitalized it for all to enjoy.
The centerpiece of the District Wharf is the amazing dining. From snacks to fine dining you can find something for any palate.
I recently had dinner with clients at DEL MAR, a beautiful airy restaurant serving Spanish coastal fare. DEL MAR is a stunning restaurant with glass windows overlooking the waterfront with beautiful Spanish tile work and art.
The food is fantastic serving all assortments of cold and hot tapas, seafood towers, cheese and charcuterie plates, grilled fresh fish and delicious paella. The fish was tender and perfectly prepared allowing the favor to come out. Sides can be ordered to accompany the main dishes. The citrus salad with Spanish olives were a great side to the fish.
The desserts are mouthwatering starting with the house made ice cream, the almond cake and the cookies. Since our meal was light, we could partake in the sweet offerings.
From start to finish our meal was a perfect balance of food, service and ambiance at the DEL MAR. I look forward to returning in warmer weather so I can sit outside and savor the view as well.
