I adore supporting local businesses because otherwise we become a country of chain stores. Firehook with eight locations in the Washington, DC area serves amazing breads, pastries, cakes, muffins, bagels, drinks and light lunch fare. Their tuna salad is wonderful! Light and full of flavor.

You can either eat in one of the locations or take out. I am obsessed with their chocolate espresso cookie and flatbread crackers. Firehook is consistent and I always find the selection fresh and tasty.

I feel it is important to support local and when we are celebrating a team members Birthday in our Washington, DC office we buy the birthday cake from Firehook! The cakes whether they be chocolate, strawberries and cream, mocha or a fruit tart are hand made, local with the freshest ingredients.

Each item I have purchased is fresh, preservative and additive free and delicious. My favorite which is the chocolate espresso cookie is moist, soft and crunchy at the same time. My go to sweet when I need an afternoon chocolate pick me up.
