On my recent business trip to London I was very fortunate to taste some exceptional cuisine. One restaurant that stands out is JAMAVAR for its delicious Indian cuisine and ambiance. This Michelin starred restaurant is novel and exquisite bringing the best of Indian cuisine to the west. A perfect blend of East and West.
Located on Mount Street in Mayfair right off Berkley Square, Jamavar is a gem! Its roots come from the Leela Palace Hotels and Resorts in India where the managing director and CEO felt a need for impeccable Northern Indian cuisine. Dinish Nair brought this food to London under the direction of Executive Chef Rohit Ghai.
Whether you partake in the tasting menu or the a la carte menu you will be transported to another time with the décor, art work and the food. There is a two, three or four course pre fixe menu during lunch and during the early dinner seating. I am a huge fan of the tandoori grill, so I had the Chicken Tikka from the grill, the Vegetable Biryani, an assortment of mixed breads and vegetables in the most delectable sauces and spices. The Chicken Tikka was moist and flavorful and the Basmati rice in the Biryani was so flaky and tasty!
I finished my meal with the port poached pear that was the best end to my meal at Jamavar. Many of the desserts tempted me but the poached bear just hit the spot after the savory & spice meal.
There are so many more items that I want to try that I can’t wait to return on my next trip to London! Jamavar exceeded all my expectations.
