Located off the main square in Capri is La Capannina, a wonderful classic Italian restaurant in business since 1931 and owned by the same family.
Quaint and tucked away in a side street, you enter a fantastic dining venue where you are welcomed by the owner who is friendly and inviting.
We were seated in the back room which had a soothing ambience. Plants lit overhead and a spacious room where we weren’t seated too close to any other patron.
The food is classic Italian fare. Pastas, fish, veal and an assortment of salads and appetizers. Parma ham, fresh mozzarella, local asparagus and fresh farm to table greens.
I started with the home made pasta with wild mushrooms sautéed with fresh olive oil, garlic and cherry tomatoes. Then the fresh local asparagus steamed with butter and shaved Parmesan. My main course was escalope of veal al la lemon.
We also tried the roasted chicken and sea bass which was wonderful.
In Capri were there are so many tourist traps, La Capannina stands out ßwith its friendly service and family owned sensibility!
