Nice has seen a real change in its culinary scene. I have been visiting the area for a long time since my family resides in the area and the change is evident in all aspects of its cuisine.
Small restaurants have opened run by local chefs that have changed the dining scene. These independently run restaurants use local vendors, have transformed former spaces, and provide a more laid-back ambiance.
One such dining venue in Nice Is Lavomatique housed in a building that was a laundromat. Located in old Nice (vieux Nice), it is on a charming street, serves wonderful tapas and the two owners are brothers Hugo & Gregiore Loubert. Higo and Gregoire were both present the night I went for dinner.
Lavomatique is tapas style dining with a small selection of tables and a large bar where you can dine and see the chefs in action. The dishes I tried were simple but tasty. My favorite dishes were fish and vegetable tapas. It all about sharing here but my favorite had to be the dark chocolate tart. I did not want to share the dessert as smooth and delicious. With a glass of sparkling wine, it was heaven.
