There is a great renaissance of local restaurans in Nice France. Nice being next to glitzy Monaco and Ritzy Cannes is holding its own in the dining scene if not surpassing its glitzy neighbors.
Nice has emerged with real chef driven restaurants headed by young chefs that are not only original in their cuisine but have created a really inviting ambience to relax and enjoy the food.
On a recent trip to Nice, I was fortunate that my family invited me to Le Sejour Café for dinner. A family run operation headed by Chef Nicolas Mendjisluy and run by the truly charming Marilee.
Chef Mendjisky creates beautifully presented and tasting food that is light with a reference to his Mediterranean roots. Each dish I tasted was better than the next.
The restaurant is small, but the ambience is very friendly and welcoming. I started with the crab and avocado foam appetizer, followed by the grilled Mediterranean loup de mer and for dessert I shared a lemon yuzu souffle that was out of this world!
My family tasted the pastas, and salads for their appetizers which were farm to table fresh. It is so nice to see these types of restaurants back in Nice frequented by locals and lucky visitors like me!
