On a rainy day while visiting my family in the South of France I decided that we needed a pastry fix. We headed to Lenôtre to sample their prefix lunch which was nice but the pastries were the best part of our meal.
I had the chocolate autumn leaf which is a combination of crunchy French meringue, a dark chocolate mousse interior and a dark chocolate exterior. The combination is just sublime. Paired with a noisette, which is an espresso with a bit of hot milk, it was perfect.
The dark chocolate was luscious and usually I am not a fan of mousse but this chocolate mousse was light and I could taste the rich dark chocolate.
My uncle had the Madagascar bourbon vanilla mille-feuille which is a delicate crispy puff pastry filled with vanilla bourbon cream from Madagascar. My uncle told me it melted in his mouth, tasty t light and not heavy. The whole experience was so comforting on a rainy day and a bit decadent which at times is necessary especially when you are on vacation!
