I just returned from business travel to Asia and Hong Kong has to be one of my favorite cities in the world! You might ask why? The reason being that Hong Kong is truly a crossroads of culture, cuisine, language, art and commerce.
Whether you are in Central for business, Kowloon for shopping, Lantau Island to see the Giant Buddha or Stanley to take in the South China Sea and relax each part has a diverse and unique quality. Your senses are constantly attacked by all you see and take in. The light on Victoria Harbor or the view on a clear day from the top of the peak is breathless. The history of years past and the progress of today make it a city that is constantly changing with political and economic circumstances.
I love to take the Star Ferry from Central to Kowloon and during that short ride across the Victoria Harbor I just savor the view of the massive IFC building on One side and the Kowloon skyline on the other.
If you LOVE food like I do then there are few cities like HK to excite your palate. Whether dining at the Michelin star & innovative Mandarin Grill led by chef Uwe Opocensky, the funky Glasshouse with a stunning view across Victoria Harbor or the Chic China Tang designed by Sir David Tang you will not be disappointed!
If retail therapy is a passion then Hong Kong has shopping for all taste and price ranges. From the IFC Mall, to Landmark and the super designer stores on Kowloon you can literally shop until you drop. If you didn’t get your retail fix before you leave the city then the duty free at the airport has full size designer stores to entice you before you board your flight.
I will go into more detail on each of my blog pages in reference to each individual venue that touches my senses. Go to HK on a voyage, reflect and enjoy!
