Paco Meralgo is a testament to innovative cuisine in Barcelona. Each tapas dish is better than the next. Tapas can be routine and a bit mundane but the chefs at Paco Meralgo make it an experience.

We had a reservation for the dining room but decided to sit at the bar/counter as livelier and we could see the chefs in action.

We perused the menu to discover a selection of tapas we wanted to try. We started with the gazpacho in a wine glass a different take on the classic, grilled prawns, a tuna tataki with an Asian flare, the courgette flowers stuffed with mozzarella, batatas bravas, the chicken cannelloni, house croquettes, and the grilled figs for dessert.

Each item we tried was more delicious than the next. The grilled figs were truly a delicacy. Caramelized and served with a soft cheese drizzled with honey. We had a novel culinary experience while in Barcelona.

There is an extensive wine list where we dried a cava reserve and a Spanish white wine to accompany our meal. It is a wonderful experience sitting at the counter to be able to see the chief/team at work and converse with our fellow diners both local and international.
