Chitose Abe created the Japanese fashion brand SACAI in 1999. I just discovered SACAI this winter and fell in love with her design aesthetics mixing sportswear with couture techniques. The side pleated skirt in bias is a piece of wearable art.

The construction of the skirt is couture but wearable daily. The mix of sportswear makes it comfortable, but Abe’s designs always have a feminine esthetic and edge. Whether it be a stern black & white tweed jacket with ruffles or a shiny short black bomber jacket with faux lamb it will always be innovative and stylish.
