The Salamander Resort opened in August 2013 but you feel when visiting that the property has been open for a long period. The main structure consists of a gorgeous lobby flanked by two fireplaces, a stunning wood paneled library, two bars, a restaurant in the round and a full service spa. Further, the resort offers culinary classes for those interested. The equestrian center is done a lovely path for those that want to partake in horseback riding. The grounds are beautiful for walking and continuing to Middleburg proper for shopping, dining or wine tasting at the various local vineyards.
My family & I have been several times and have enjoyed our stay because Salamander offers a tranquil respite to Washington, DC but only an hour away. The entire team we encountered has been very friendly and accommodating. Even if you do not want to spend the night try the Harriman restaurant for a meal or have a libation at one of the nicely appointed bars. There is true attention to detail at this resort which is hard to find these days! Explore and have fun.
