There comes a time when you are exhausted and you enter a venue that rejuvenates you. This was the case when my business partners and I decided to go to the Hotel Del Coronado when we were in San Diego for a GBTA conference.
This property takes you back in time, one of the oldest wooden made resorts in the US still standing.
With multiple dining venues we ate at the Sheerwater facing the water, a delightful dining venue with fantastic fresh seafood.
The air was cool with a fantastic breeze, a wonderful setting to end a frantic day of meetings.
We started with fresh oysters and a prosciutto and pear pizza. The staff is so accommodating and no one had any issues that I brought the pizza from another restaurant at the resort because I had a craving for it.
The view over the lawn and water is so tranquil and relaxing. It was a great culmination to a busy day.
We had an assortment of fresh seafood. I had the seafood salad that consisted of crab, lobster and shrimp, extremely fresh with a citrus vinaigrette. My colleagues had scallops and swordfish.
After dinner we headed to a path that lead to the beach for a nice walk. The ocean was majestic and the air calm. We then headed to the ice cream parlor in the resort for dessert. I had the oreo and pistachio ice cream with a chocolate dipped cone and my partner had the rum raisin. It was total nirvana and worth every calorie.
Our experience at the Hotel Del Coronado was so needed as it took us out of business mode and transported us to a state of Zen and much needed state of balance.
