I recently spent some time in Mexico City on a cultural tour. I had the opportunity to stay at the St. Regis Mexico City which is a dream. Half residences and half hotel, you feel cocooned in luxury rather than being in a bustling hotel in a major metropolitan city.
From the moment I arrived I was whisked to the front desk for a check-in and then shown to my stunning plush room decorated in neutral and beige tones. A bathroom that left me breathless with a large marble rain shower and bath combo, striking natural marble, glass and lighting throughout that made me look my best. Then there is the butler service awaiting me to unpack my suitcase which I declined. However, I made sure to have my clothes pressed, shoes shined and earl grey tea delivered with cookies to my room each afternoon.
I opened the drapes to have a skyline view of Mexico City in front of me with the new striking architecture, mountains and sweeping vistas. In my opinion what makes a hotel amazing is the team that works for the detailed attention each guest receives. The St. Regis Mexico City didn’t disappoint on any counts. Every person that I came across made sure I was treated like a “star”.
The exercise facilities, spa and pool are out of this world. All three located on the top floor with sweeping views of the city. The gym is divided into a cardio and a weight section with a Kinesis wall. The infinity pool is my favorite, flush against the glass wall with a view of Mexico City, accented lanterns and two Jacuzzis to the side of the pool. The spa, though small, is luxurious with numerous treatments and retail filled with all items one needs to recharge after a bustling day.
The dining did not disappoint with a J&G Grill by master chef Jean Gorge that serves a scrumptious breakfast buffet full of fresh fruits, cheeses, smoked fish, meats, eggs, pancakes and bread/pastries one can desire. My favorite is the green juice with cactus and other local fruits. I felt my body recharge. The J&G grill also serves a fantastic dinner with a modern glassed encased open concept kitchen for viewing. If one is in the mood for a lighter meal, the bar with terrace seating offers tacos, guacamole and salads. Of course there are various types of tequila for consumption.
Mexico City is truly a dynamic destination and the St. Regis Mexico City is an oasis of refuge and relaxation in this bustling and fast faced capitol of Mexico.
