Middelburg, situated in the horse country of Virginia, is a beautiful part of the country. It is traditional when it comes to cuisine so to my surprise the owner of Sea Spice in Miami opened the chic Black Market restaurant in Aldie close to Middleburg Virginia.
The Black Market is a hip and fun dining experience in the Virginia horse country. Complete with a fun terrace when weather permits and a design driven interior with dark walls, large pieces of art and beautiful flower arrangements.
The standout is the food. The chef and the management team are from Sea Spice in Miami. Karina the general manager took diligent care of us and sat us at the end of a communal table.
We went for a late lunch where we started with the mushroom and barley soup that was delicious. Then we had radicchio, roasted walnut, and endive salad with large prawns. We also tried the chicken sandwich with house made fries. The chef handcrafts all items. There are cheese and charcuterie boards to indulge in with a glass of red wine or champagne if just looking for a light bite. Dinner starts at four and the choices are more varied.
The Black Market has a soothing and relaxed vibe. The interior is so cozy and perfect for the winter months while the terrace is ideal for warmer weather.
