When I think of the iconic Watergate Hotel I think of the Watergate break-ins, politics and intrigue. After a lengthy closure, new ownership and renovation the Watergate Hotel is back!
The newly designed hotel by master Israeli industrial designer & architect Ron Arad gives the property a very modern and glamourous feel. Custom made furniture throughout, interesting wall treatments and beautiful sculptures.
This is definitely not the Watergate hotel of the 70’s but a very hip and modern interpretation. There are three dining options the main restaurant KINGBIRD that faces the Potomac River with indoor & outdoor seating, the Next Whiskey Bar with its amazing design and the Top of the Gate rooftop bar with panoramic views of the city. The current reincarnation of the Watergate Hotel is sleek but private. The location in the Watergate complex on the Potomac River gives the hotel privacy but close enough to walk to all the attractions but not be in the direct hustle & bustle.
I personally adore the modern & industrial aesthetics that Ron Arad has used coupled the iconic and serene location facing the water. This hotel is a design forward but tucked away like a gem for rest, relaxation or business.
