I am getting calls regarding the UK Electronic Travel Authorization that went into effect May 2025. My clients are confused if they require a UK ETA for transit through the UK. The answer is NO if you are not leaving the airport and just transiting the airport to your next destination outside the UK. Initially the UK was requiring an ETA for transit but luckily, they decided against it before the new policy went into effect.
When you apply for an ETA for any country you go through the government site that can at times be difficult to navigate and can time out during your session. We at Travel Document Systems (TDS) have created a department within our organization that deals exclusively with ETA’s for many countries that require one including the UK.
I am often asked why someone should go through TDS or our sister company Pinnacle-TDS and the answer is that if you encounter an issue on the government site it is difficult to get customer support but an applicant can call or email TDS for a quick response if they encounter any issues. Dealing with any type of ETA can be daunting.
My team and I are here to assist you with all your ETA needs!
